1 Hour Fire Rated Self Supporting Membrane Ceiling

When a conventional suspended ceiling system is not suitable, a self supporting membrane ceiling provides an effective solution for maintaining fire compartmentation while keeping the ceiling void available for building services.

The 1 Hour Fire Rated Self Supporting Membrane Ceiling supplied by PROSAFE uses PROMATECT®-H calcium silicate boards fixed to a steel framing arrangement with mineral wool insulation as part of the tested system assembly. Depending on the selected configuration, the system incorporates either a single or double layer of PROMATECT®-H boards to achieve the required fire resistance performance. The complete assembly provides an overall system thickness of up to 128mm.

Designed as a self supporting ceiling system without suspension from the structural soffit, the assembly has been tested and assessed in accordance with BS 476 Part 22:1987 for non loadbearing construction. Configurations are available to provide fire protection from below only or from both above and below, achieving a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of -/60/60.

Suitable for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential developments, this system offers a practical passive fire protection solution for both new construction and refurbishment projects.

The 1 Hour Fire Rated Self Supporting Membrane Ceiling is suitable for a variety of building types, including:

  • Commercial buildings

  • Industrial facilities

  • Institutional buildings

  • Residential developments

  • High rise constructions

  • Restoration and refurbishment projects

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this system tested?

Yes. This system has been tested to BS 476 Part 22:1987 for non-loadbearing construction and provides 60 minutes of fire resistance when installed in accordance with the tested assembly. It is supported by the relevant test documentation and is accepted for BOMBA submission where applicable.

Do fire rated systems require certificate renewal?

No. Building owners do not need to renew the fire test certification. The certification is maintained by the system manufacturer (PROMAT), while the installed system should always follow the tested assembly and manufacturer recommendations.

How much does this system cost?

The cost depends on factors such as the project size, system dimensions and specification requirements. Contact PROSAFE for a project-specific quotation and technical advice here.
