2 Hour Fire Rated PROMINA® 60 Steel Duct Cladding

The 2 Hour Fire Rated PROMINA® 60 Steel Duct Cladding is designed to provide tested fire protection for steel ventilation, smoke extraction and kitchen extract ducts. It helps maintain fire compartmentation where ductwork passes through fire-rated walls and floors without the use of fire dampers.

Supplied by PROSAFE, this PROMAT system is constructed using a single layer of 12mm PROMINA® 60 calcium silicate board together with galvanised steel angles, steel channel collars and 50mm mineral wool insulation. Board joints are sealed using PROMINA® 60 cover strips or PROMASEAL®-A Acrylic Sealant in accordance with the approved tested assembly.

When installed as the approved tested assembly, the system provides 120 minutes of fire resistance and achieves a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of 120/120/120. The system has been tested and assessed in accordance with BS 476 Part 24:1987 for both Duct Type A (external fire) and Duct Type B (internal and external fire) performance.

Suitable for commercial, industrial, institutional, residential and high rise developments, this system provides a reliable passive fire protection solution for projects requiring compliant fire resistant ductwork.

This system is designed for the fire protection of steel ventilation, smoke extraction and kitchen extract ducts.
The published tested assembly consists of one layer of 12mm PROMINA® 60 board with 50mm mineral wool insulation and galvanised steel framing components.
Butt joints should be sealed using PROMINA® 60 cover strips or PROMASEAL®-A Acrylic Sealant in accordance with the approved tested assembly.
The stress allowance of the threaded steel hanger rods should not exceed 10N/mm², with hanger support centres not exceeding 2440mm unless additional support is provided.
Supporting structural elements should provide at least the same fire resistance as the duct system itself.

Is this system tested?

Yes. This system has been tested to BS 476 Part 24:1987 for fire resistant ductwork and provides 120 minutes of fire resistance when installed in accordance with the approved tested assembly. It has been tested for both Duct Type A and Duct Type B applications and is supported by the relevant fire test documentation for BOMBA submission where applicable.

Do fire rated systems require certificate renewal?
