2 Hour Fire Rated PROMATECT®-H Steel Duct Cladding

Steel ductwork that passes through fire compartments requires a tested fire protection system to maintain its performance during a fire. The 2 Hour Fire Rated PROMATECT®-H Steel Duct Cladding is designed to protect steel ventilation and kitchen exhaust ducts against both internal and external fire exposure.

Supplied by PROSAFE, this PROMAT system is constructed using PROMATECT®-H calcium silicate boards fixed to a galvanised steel channel framework. Depending on the approved tested assembly, the system may incorporate mineral wool insulation within the cavity to achieve the required fire performance. All components are installed in accordance with the published PROMAT system details.

When installed as the approved tested assembly, the system provides 120 minutes of fire resistance and achieves a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of 120/120/-. The system has been tested and assessed in accordance with BS 476 Part 24:1987 for fire resistant ventilation ducts. Designed for applications where fire compartmentation must be maintained, the system provides protection against both internal and external fire exposure.

Suitable for commercial, industrial, institutional, residential and high rise developments, this tested duct cladding system provides a practical passive fire protection solution for projects requiring compliant fire rated ductwork.

Depending on the selected tested system, PROMATECT®-H boards are installed together with galvanised steel framing and mineral wool insulation where required.
Different tested assemblies are available for Stability & Integrity only, and for Stability, Integrity and Insulation performance. The appropriate system should be selected according to the project requirements.
The complete system, including PROMATECT®-H boards, framing, insulation, hangers and associated components, should be installed in accordance with the approved tested assembly.

Is this system tested?

Yes. This system has been tested to BS 476 Part 24:1987 for fire resistant ductwork and provides 120 minutes of fire resistance when installed in accordance with the approved tested assembly. It is supported by the relevant test documentation and is accepted for BOMBA submission where applicable.

Do fire rated systems require certificate renewal?

No. Building owners do not need to renew the fire test certification. The certification is maintained by the system manufacturer (PROMAT), while the installed system should always follow the tested assembly and manufacturer recommendations.
