
2 Hour Fire Rated Structural Steel Protection
Structural steel requires proven fire protection to maintain its loadbearing capacity during a fire. The 2 Hour Fire Rated Structural Steel Encasement is designed to protect steel columns and beams using a tested PROMATECT®-H board encasement system, making it suitable for a wide range of commercial, industrial and high rise developments.
Supplied by PROSAFE, this PROMAT system consists of a single layer of PROMATECT®-H calcium silicate boards with the required board thickness selected according to the steel section factor (Hp/A ratio). The boards are fixed using approved steel framing or board edge fixing methods to form a complete encasement around the structural steel in accordance with the tested construction.
When installed as the approved assembly, the system provides 120 minutes of fire resistance and achieves a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of 120/-/-. The system has been tested and assessed in accordance with BS 476 Part 21:1987 for structural steel protection and is suitable for protecting exposed structural steel members within buildings.

Is this system tested?

Are there size limitations for the structural steel sections?
