1 Hour Fire Rated Solid Partition

A solid partition provides a slim, non-loadbearing solution for creating internal fire compartment walls where access is only available from one side of the installation. Unlike conventional partition systems that typically require fixing from both sides during construction, a solid partition offers a practical solution for refurbishment works, boundary conditions and other projects where access is limited.

The 1 Hour Fire Rated Solid Partition supplied by PROSAFE, based on the selected design, is constructed using two layers of 20mm and 15mm PROMATECT®-H boards with staggered joints, fixed onto steel perimeter angles. When installed in accordance with the tested construction, the complete assembly has a nominal system thickness of 35mm.

Tested to BS 476 Part 22:1987 for non-loadbearing construction, the system provides 60 minutes of fire resistance from both sides and achieves a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of -/60/60 when installed as the approved tested assembly.

Suitable for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential developments, this system is commonly specified where a slim fire rated partition is required and only one side of the installation is accessible during construction.

The 1 Hour Fire Rated Solid Partition is suitable for a variety of building types, including:

  • Commercial buildings

  • Industrial facilities

  • Institutional buildings

  • Residential developments

  • High rise buildings

  • Refurbishment and restoration projects

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this system tested?

Yes. This system has been tested to BS 476 Part 22:1987 for non-loadbearing construction and provides 60 minutes of fire resistance when installed in accordance with the tested assembly. It is supported by the relevant test documentation and is accepted for BOMBA submission where applicable.

Do fire rated systems require certificate renewal?

No. Building owners do not need to renew the fire test certification. The certification is maintained by the system manufacturer (PROMAT), while the installed system should always follow the tested assembly and manufacturer recommendations.

How much does this system cost?

The cost depends on factors such as the project size, partition dimensions and specification requirements. Contact PROSAFE for a project-specific quotation and technical advice here.

Why choose PROSAFE for passive fire protection systems?

PROSAFE supplies PROMAT fire rated systems that are rigid, lightweight, moisture resistant and supported by tested documentation. With a wide range of system options and practical technical support, we help make system selection easier for projects across Malaysia.

Can this partition be installed above 4 metres in height?

Yes. However, where the partition height exceeds 4000mm, the size of the steel channels should be determined in accordance with PROMAT recommendations. Contact PROSAFE for project-specific technical advice here.

Which side of the partition provides fire protection?

This system provides 60 minutes of fire resistance from both sides when installed in accordance with the approved tested assembly.

When should I use solid partition / steel stud partition?

A solid partition is commonly selected where access is only available from one side of the installation. Its frameless construction makes it a practical solution for refurbishment projects, boundary conditions and other situations where installing a conventional steel stud partition may not be practical.
