2 Hour Fire Rated Parapet Wall System

Where fire compartmentation needs to continue beyond a floor slab or roof level, a fire rated parapet wall system provides an effective solution for maintaining the required fire separation. It is commonly used as an upstand or downstand fire barrier in a wide range of commercial, industrial and residential buildings.

The 2 Hour Fire Rated Parapet Wall System supplied by PROSAFE is constructed using a single layer of 9mm PROMATECT®-H calcium silicate board screw-fixed to one side of a galvanised steel channel framework. Installed in accordance with the tested assembly, the complete system has an overall thickness of 60mm.

Designed to resist fire exposure from either side, the system has been tested to BS 476 Part 22:1987 and provides 120 minutes of integrity performance, achieving a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of -/120/- (integrity only) when installed as the approved tested assembly.

Suitable for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential developments, this tested parapet wall system provides a practical passive fire protection solution where reliable fire compartmentation is required above or below structural slabs.

The 2 Hour Fire Rated Parapet Wall System is suitable for a variety of building types, including:

  • Commercial buildings

  • Industrial facilities

  • Institutional buildings

  • Residential developments

  • High rise buildings

  • Roof parapet applications

  • Floor slab upstand and downstand fire barriers

  • Refurbishment and restoration projects

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this system tested?

Yes. This system has been tested to BS 476 Part 22:1987 and provides 120 minutes of integrity performance, achieving a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of -/120/- when installed in accordance with the approved tested assembly. It is supported by the relevant test documentation and is accepted for BOMBA submission where applicable.

Do fire rated systems require certificate renewal?

No. Building owners do not need to renew the fire test certification. The certification is maintained by the system manufacturer (PROMAT), while the installed system should always follow the tested assembly and manufacturer recommendations.

How much does this system cost?

The cost depends on factors such as the project size, parapet wall dimensions and specification requirements. Contact PROSAFE for a project-specific quotation and technical advice here.

Why choose PROSAFE for passive fire protection systems?

PROSAFE supplies PROMAT fire rated systems that are rigid, lightweight, moisture resistant and supported by tested documentation. With a wide range of system options and practical technical support, we help make system selection easier for projects across Malaysia.

Does this parapet wall provide fire protection from both sides?

Yes. The tested assembly provides 120 minutes of integrity performance and achieves a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of -/120/- when exposed to fire from either side, provided it is installed in accordance with the approved tested assembly.

Can this be used as an upstand or downstand parapet wall?

Yes. This system is designed for both upstand and downstand parapet wall applications when installed in accordance with the approved tested assembly and supported by masonry or concrete construction with an equivalent or higher fire resistance rating.
